In terms of weather summer is the longest season in Azerbaijan. It is hot and dry. Average temperature of June in lowlands is about 27 °C (81 °F) with slightly cooler coastal areas. Occasionally hot tropical air masses bring heat up to 35 °C (95 °F). Such leaps are especially frequent in plain portion of Nakchivan autonomous region. August is slightly cooler by 2 to 3 °C (≈5 °F).

However average summer temperature depends on altitude too. For example at 2000 m (6500 ft.) a.s.l it will be 15 °C (59 °F) and at 3000 m (9800 ft.) a.s.l it is even lower about 10 °C (50 °F). Altitude zonality as it is.
